Program Description
Management of Technology (MOT) is a unique and vital field of study and research
that focuses on technology and innovation as key to wealth
creation, competitiveness and sustainable economic and social development. The
Nile University program prepares professionals capable of integrating knowledge
of the sciences, engineering, and business and technology strategies to master
the process of guiding creativity, R&D, product development, commercialization
and the management of all technological resources for sustainable development.
Courses offered stress the importance of understanding the accelerating rate of
change, uncertainty and dynamics of the innovation process. They are designed to
cover theoretical foundations and practical applications that equip students
with the necessary skills related to managing technological resources at the
macro-level of countries as well as the micro-level of an organization.
Local/ International Partners
MOT Program is structured according to the guidelines
established by the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT)
and is offered in collaboration with the University of Minnesota's Center for
Development of Technological Leadership, University of Miami and the
International Association for Management of Technology.
Who should attend/Target Market
The MOT program is designed for graduates who have obtained
their undergraduate degree in technology related disciplines or are involved in
managing a technology-based entity. Potential students can come from
multinational corporations, government sectors, and owners, managers and
employees of private/public sector companies.
Program Outcomes
After graduation students will be able to cope with the
inherent difficulties of foresight and able to mange in an environment of
constant evolution due to intertwined social, market and technical dynamics.
This allows them to evolve, keep pace with, and actively guide organizations in
changing environments. Each student will be able to integrate technology and
business strategies, develop an effective organizational structure and necessary
functions that permit sustainable success.
Faculty
The program faculty consists of some of the best recognized
educators in MOT in the world from Nile, Minnesota, Miami, Central Florida
universities as well as experts from IAMOT.
Curriculum
The Masters of Science in MOT requires completing 36 credit
hours of course work with an option for 6-9 cr. Hrs. for a thesis which could be
substituted by courses (6-9 cr. hrs). The program content is divided into four
focus areas: the first covers the tools and techniques of management of
technology (15 to 18 cr. hrs); the second on basic business functions in an
organization (9 to 12 cr. hrs); the third on the technology centered knowledge
required for the specialization (3 to 9 cr. hrs); and the last constitutes of
electives from supporting disciplines or credits for a thesis.
